Here is the Walgreens 101 post. I am sure I will revise after I read through it again, but this is a start for all the newbies out there!

Q: What are all these Walgreens coupons I hear about?
Walgreens offers 2 types of store coupons.
*7-day Coupons: these coupons are found in the weekly store ad.
*Monthly Coupons: these coupons are found next to the weekly ads in the store, and are good for month only.
Since the 2 types of Walgreens coupons are considered store coupons, they cannot be used at any other retailer. They CAN be used in conjunction with manufacturer coupons on a single item. These can be internet printable coupons, or coupons from the Sunday newspaper. Always give your manufacturer coupons first, and then your Walgreens coupons. If you try using the Walgreens coupons first - the register may not allow you to use your Manufacturer coupons.
Q: Do I have to supply more than one 7-day coupon if I plan to buy multiple of the same item?
Let's say your 7-day coupon is for .49 cans of tuna, and you plan to purchase 4. You do not need to give the cashier 4 coupons from the weekly ad. The register will automatically price each can of tuna at .49 each.
Q: Do I have to supply more than one Monthly coupon if I plan to buy multiple of the same item?
Let's say your Monthly coupon is for $2/2 Glade Candles, and you plan to purchase 4. You do not need to give the cashier 2 Monthly coupons from the booklet. The register will automatically take off a total of $4 for the 4 candles you buy.
Let me expand on this. We will talk about Register Rewards more later, but the guideline above is VERY important.
The cashier will need to override the coupon, and reduce the value to .75. Coupon redemption can never exceed the selling price of an item and no cash back is ever provided in exchange for any coupons.
Q:What happens if there is a B1G1 sale, and I have coupons for those items?
Up to two coupons can be used against the items purchased as long as the net price does not go below zero for the items being purchased.
*Also, you cannot use a manufacturer coupon & an RR on a single item. Why? Because they are both considered manufacturer coupons, and you can't use 2 on the same item.
Give your coupons in this order during your transaction for best results:
First: Register Rewards
Second: Manufacturer Coupons
Third: Any Walgreen's Coupons

Let me expand on this. We will talk about Register Rewards more later, but the guideline above is VERY important.
Let's say you want to buy 10 items. You have a coupon for each one of those items, and you also have a Register Reward from a previous week. Register Rewards are considered a manufacturer coupon so you would have 11 coupons, and 10 items. You would not be able to use the RR because there would more more coupons than items. So, always be sure that the number of coupons and items are equal. Or you can pick up something small by the register to have 1 more item then coupons. **Walgreens coupons DO NOT count towards your total # of coupons since they are store coupons - not manufacturer.
Q: What happens if something is on sale for .75, and my coupon is for $1.00 off?-----------------------------------

Register Rewards
Register Rewards
Register Rewards are coupons that print off after you buy the participating item in the weekly ad. You pay the price of the item up front, and then the coupon prints after you pay resulting in an often free product. You can use then use the Register Reward like cash on your next shopping trip. There are some exclusions, and you can check the Coupon Policy page for details. Most are self explanatory - not valid on postage, dairy, lottery tickets etc. You CAN use coupons on Register Reward items.
Here is example of a Register Reward transaction:
Colgate Total Advanced Toothpaste: $3.49
-$1/1 from 10/24 SmartSource
Pay Out of Pocket: $2.49
*Get $3.49 Register Reward
Final Cost: FREE + $1 moneymaker.
You could then use that $3.49 RR on whatever you choose to buy on your next shopping trip. Keep in mind Register Rewards are considered Manufacturer coupons. You cannot use your RR to buy another tube of Colgate & expect to get another Register Reward. It will not work because the RR, and the product are from the same manufacturer. It is weird - I know, but that is how it works. So, you could use that $3.49 register reward on anything else, but not on anything Colgate, or made by the same manufacturer as Colgate.
Let's say you have that Colgate RR, and you want to buy Schick Shave Gel to get the RR from that product. You can buy the Schick Shave Gel, and use the RR you just got from Colgate to pay, and then the Schick Shave Gel RR would print out. Go back and buy a tube of Colgate, and use the Schick Shave Gel RR to help pay for the Colgate, and get another Colgate RR. Rinse, and repeat. Does that make sense?
